Ludhiana Launches Maitri Sanskar Value Education Programme in 12 Government Schools
Ludhiana, (Punjab), August 8, 2026: In a significant initiative to strengthen character development and holistic education among school children, the District Administration, Ludhiana, has approved the implementation of the Maitri Sanskar Value Education Programme in 12 Government Schools on a pilot basis for a period of three academic years.

The initiative reflects Punjab’s commitment to ensuring that education goes beyond academic excellence to nurture values, emotional well-being, responsible citizenship, and life skills that prepare children to become compassionate and responsible members of society.
Recognising that education must develop both competence and character, Ludhiana has emerged as a frontrunner in introducing a structured, research-based Value Education Curriculum within government schools, in alignment with the vision of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
The Maitri Sanskar Value Education Programme is an initiative of MaitriBodh Parivaar Charitable Trust, founded under the guidance of Maitreya Dadashreeji, whose vision of building a peaceful and compassionate society places values at the heart of individual and societal transformation. Rooted in the ethos of “One World, One Family, One Truth,” the Trust has been working across education, social transformation, health, environment, and community development to nurture conscious and responsible citizens.
Today, the Maitri Sanskar Value Education Programme is operational across 8 states, benefiting more than 20,000 students through a structured curriculum that integrates values into everyday learning. The programme combines student workbooks, experiential activities, storytelling, reflective practices, teacher capacity building, and continuous mentoring to help children develop qualities such as respect, empathy, responsibility, integrity, gratitude, peace, self-discipline, and service.
As part of the Ludhiana initiative, participating schools will receive student learning materials, comprehensive teacher training, academic mentoring, classroom support, and ongoing monitoring and assessment throughout. The programme has been designed to
integrate seamlessly with the existing academic timetable without disrupting regular classroom teaching.
The District Education Officer will coordinate implementation across participating schools, while teachers will receive specialised orientation and continuous support to effectively deliver the curriculum.
Teacher Capacity Building: To ensure effective implementation, over 50 teachers from the participating Government Schools underwent an intensive Value Education Training Programme conducted by the Maitri Sanskar team. The immersive training introduced teachers to the programme’s experiential, child-centric pedagogy and the deeper meaning of its five core values. They were equipped to deliver engaging values sessions through storytelling, activities, reflection, and real-life application, while seamlessly integrating digital resources and student workbooks to enrich learning. Ongoing mentoring, classroom support, and academic guidance will continue throughout the programme to ensure quality delivery and lasting impact.
